Normal distribution is considered to be related to the continuous probability distribution and its description is done using the normal equation. The variable used is continuous meaning that the value that it assumes form intervals of numbers. Normal distributions are considered important as they are applied in real situations and are important in inferential statistics. The normal curve is considered to have infinite numbers instead of having single numbers. It is usually referred to as distributions of families as each family has different parameters setting. The curve assumes values for example m and d to specific values. The parameters m can assume any values negative or positive and d takes the positive values (Wlodzimiertz, 1995). The normal curve values consist of infinite numbers and it helps the model be used in solving quite a number of problems. Its phenomena are in a position to describe big numbers that occur naturally making it to be considered one of the most important curves.

The curve is dependent on factors, such as the standard deviation and the mean, where the mean is used to determine the center location of the graph and the standard deviation is used to determine the width and height of the graph. The area under the curve is determined by the standard deviation as when it is large, the curve is wide and short and when it’s small, it is narrow and tall. The area under the curve is not infinite, as it assumes the value 1 (Wlodzimiertz, 1995). Inferential calculus is used to calculate the area under the curve where it used to determine the number of people that have certain characteristics helping in their categorization.
