Research Paper

 

Students are to write a 4 to 5 pages research paper examining one of the following Supreme Court cases.

 

1-     Dred Scott v. Sanford (1857)

2-     Plessy V. Ferguson (1896)

3-     Brown V. Board of Educatjon (1954)

4-     Regents of the University of California V. Bakke (1978)

 

Students should decide whether or not the case is significant in furthering the cause of social justice. In addition, students are to take a position either for or against the decision. Students should research the individual case and cite the opinion of the court and individual justices.

 

 

Word of Warning: Students must not copy directly out of a text without giving a credit to the author; otherwise it is plagiarism (cheating).

 

1-     Papers must have a title page-title, class, date, and teacher.

2-     Papers must be typed (double spaced), Font 12.

3-     A bibliography is also required.

4-     A minimum of (5) five sources required. No more than two-internet sources.

5-     Additionally, you-may cite books, scholarly journals, newspapers articles, and magazines are encouraged.

6-     A minimum of 4 to 5 pages, not including the title page and bibliography or work cited page is required.

7-     MLF FORMAT.

 

Students should have the following included in the research paper:

1-     Introduction.

2-     Thesis.

3-     Arguments.

4-     Conclusion.

5-     Student’s personal perspective as a result of their research.

6-     Students should have as many resources that are needed to complete their paper.

7-     All source material must be turned in with the assignment. Papers not turned in with the resource material attached will receive a point deduction.
