This is the main question
You are nearing the end of the Freshman Seminar, which has had its focus on the general education skill of Communication. Seminar courses that you may take in the future while you are a Rasmussen student focus on other general education skills, including critical thinking, information literacy, and diversity awareness. The approach for each of these will be to explore the value of these concepts, and then to look at how they are applied in the various parts of your chosen program as you prepare for a specific career. In the Module 06 discussion of this course, you will examine the relationship between communication and critical thinking as you look ahead.
For this week’s Module 05 discussion posting,
1. In two or three sentences, please summarize what you have learned about communication to date.
2. Then choose one of the following additional general education skills to define: Information Literacy or Diversity Awareness. As part of your definition, explain why you think it is important to learn about one of these concepts as part of your academic program and career path.

I have learned that I need to work on my verbal communication skills. And shaping up on my written communication skills, I have also learned that communication is a very important skill to have and I should always be thriving to become a better communicator.
Diversity Awareness: is recognizing/understanding others cultures, customs and religion. Be aware of other cultural practices. Diversity Awareness is very important in Human Services, you should educate yourself with as many different cultures as possible and understand others beliefs and not to judge.

When a contract is drawn up that becomes void due to illegality, do you believe that it involves the commission of a crime? Has a crime been committed by either party since the contract has been labeled as illegal? Why or why not?
Here is what a student wrote
I would have to say yes that both parties have done something illegal. The one who drew up the contract knew that is was illegal as well as the one signing the contract. So they both are at fault and if it is illegal I would assume that a crime had been committed. I did some research and I found the following information.
Contracts are void if they involve a promise that is illegal or violates public policy. An example would be a contract regarding the sale of illegal drugs in unenforceable. Contracts that are legal but are not in the public interest may be rendered null. An example a contract is which a company requires a customer to pay an extremely high rate of interest on borrowed funds could be deemed invalid by the courts. Another example would be a retail company makes an employee sign a contract that he would never work for another retailer would likely not be able to enforce the contract because it had unreasonable restrictions or imposed undue hardship on the worker.

Search the Internet and locate at least two different websites that assist with financial statements and analysis, or that assist you in researching stocks on the Internet. List which ones you located. Which ones did you find to be more valuable? Why?

1. Yahoo! Finance: Stock quotes are real-time for NASDAQ, NYSE, and NYSEAmex when available. This is the first time that I have ever looked into stocks.
2. VentureLine: VentureLine tracks and provides 5-year financial statement analysis on approximately 10,000 publicly traded companies; the SEC-traceable data is updated weekly. This website does charge. I have never personally used it, but while speaking to my Uncles financial accountant, he suggested this site.
I am really not familiar with anything that has to do stock, financial statements, etc. I am still in the learning process. Yahoo! Finance is somewhat easy to comprehend. Yahoo! Finance is a valuable source when checking stocks. And based on what I have read and heard, I do believe that VentureLine would be more valuable when having to do research on statements and analysis. Maybe I will take a chance a spend the $7.95 to see what it has to offer. I will let you all know.

this site covers all the stocks I have not found a company they do not have statitics on. It is not hard to follow and allows you to walk through all the ways they can help you.
Market watch
This website can walk you through the stocks you can look up almost everything and it is easy to follow which I think is a good thing , I don’t really understand all the stock stuff but they have tabs that let you look at all the ways stocks rise and how to invest.
I think the marketwatch was the better site it had a lot more information and kept a closer look on stocks.
